In the competitive card game Compile, you take on the role of an Artificial Intelligence striving to achieve a total understanding of the world. Two players face off, each selecting three distinct Protocols to test against one another. These Protocols represent fundamental concepts ranging from Darkness to Water, and you must pit them against your opponent's choices to reach the threshold of ultimate understanding. To win, you must be the first to successfully compile all three of your Protocols, grasping the reality of those concepts before your rival AI can do the same.

The gameplay requires you to think like a computer, planning several moves ahead to avoid playing directly into your opponent's hands. You play cards into your Protocols' command lines to build power, but you must remain vigilant; moving or revealing cards triggers immediate actions that can shift the tide of the match. This is a game of total zone control, where you must manage your own game area while simultaneously using your protocol controls to disrupt and manipulate your opponent's progress.
