Description
In Canvas, you take on the role of a talented painter vying for recognition in a prestigious art competition. Your creative challenge lies in collecting beautiful art cards and then artfully layering exactly 3 of them together to craft your own unique and expressive Painting. Each exquisite card not only features a piece of evocative artwork but also displays a set of scoring icons.
The strategic puzzle comes into play as icons will be either revealed or cleverly hidden based on the way you choose to layer your three art cards. These carefully constructed Paintings are then evaluated and scored based on a dynamic set of Scoring cards, which will change with each new game, ensuring a fresh artistic challenge every time you play. Once you have successfully created and scored a total of 3 of your artistic masterpieces, the competition comes to a close.
On your turn, you have two key actions available: you may choose to take a new Art card to add to your palette, or if you have a sufficient collection, you may choose to make a painting and present it for scoring. Art cards are selected from a central row of available cards. Each card in this row has an Inspiration token cost associated with its position from the left. To select an Art card, you must pay its cost by placing one of your Inspiration tokens on each of the Art cards situated to its immediate left in the row. If you do not possess enough Inspiration tokens to meet a card's cost, you may not select that particular card. Any Inspiration tokens already present on the Art card you choose to take are collected and kept by you for use in future turns. Notably, the Art card located furthest to the left in the row has no Inspiration token cost to acquire.
If you have skillfully collected three or more Art cards in your hand, you may choose to take the action to make a painting. To do so, simply select any 3 of the Art cards from your hand, arrange them in any order that best showcases your artistic vision and scoring potential, and then proceed to score your newly created painting by carefully comparing the visible icons on your layered creation to the currently active Scoring conditions.
