What a busy few months for gaming! We here at Itemdrop have been surprised to see just how many new game releases we've seen in the last few months - we're being spoilt for choice here. It's kept us nice and busy, and I figured we could perhaps help your choices too - by listing some of the bigger releases on the way!
Mafia: The Old Country
Releasing on the very day I'm writing this! (That's the 8th of August, by the way)
"Uncover the origins of organized crime in Mafia: The Old Country, a gritty mob story set in the brutal underworld of 1900s Sicily. Fight to survive as Enzo Favara and prove your worth to the Family in this immersive third-person action-adventure set during a dangerous, unforgiving era.
Enzo will do anything for a better life. After a brutal childhood of forced labor, he's ready to risk everything to become a man of honor in the Torrisi crime family. His oath to the Mafia, with all the power, temptation, and hardship it entails, is a burning reminder of this simple truth: Family Takes Sacrifice."
Being a big fan of the Mafia series already, I'm very excited for this latest addition!

A game with a novel concept in the modern age of gaming, Hell is Us releases on the 4th of September.

Hell is Us is a gripping 3rd-person action-adventure game that masterfully combines intense melee combat with the exhilarating thrill of exploration. A very exciting concept, the free exploration and trust in the player's ability is an icy breath of fresh air from the curse of the yellow paint directions that seem to be in every game these days. Sign me up!

Silent Hill f
Now we're moving to horror - with a brand new addition to one of the most influential franchises in the genre. Silent Hill f releases on the 25th of September.
"In 1960s Japan, Shimizu Hinako's secluded town of Ebisugaoka is consumed by a sudden fog, transforming her home into a haunting nightmare. As the town falls silent and the fog thickens, Hinako must navigate the twisted paths of Ebisugaoka, solving complex puzzles and confronting grotesque monsters to survive.
Immerse yourself into Hinako's world imagined by renowned author Ryukishi07, with entrancing music, including pieces by Akira Yamaoka, and beautiful visuals in a gripping tale of doubt, regret, and inescapable choices. Will Hinako embrace the beauty hidden within terror, or succumb to the madness that lies ahead?"
As a huge horror fan, I'm super excited to experience a brand new Silent Hill story. And from the screenshots of the game, it's looking to be terrifying.
Sonic Racing: Crossworlds
It seems the 25th is a busy day! These games couldn't be further apart, though. This is Sonic Racing: Crossworlds, also releasing on the 25th of September!
"Race across land, sea, air, space, and time in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds! Warp through Travel Rings into new dimensions where something new awaits around every twist and turn.
Build the ultimate vehicle to match your racing style, unlock gadgets to gain the upper hand, and unleash power-up items for the win!
Speed to victory solo or as a team in a variety of offline and online modes and compete against players from around the world. Build the ultimate vehicle to match your racing style, unlock gadgets to gain the upper hand, and unleash power-up items to bring home the win!"
With 24 tracks, 23 characters, and unique crossworlds to experience, I never thought I'd see characters like Hatsune Miku and Joker from Persona 5 in a Sonic game! It's a fun concept that I can't wait to see more of.
Ghost of Yotei
Lastly (but certainly not least) we have a Sony IP exclusive. A sequel to a fantastic game, Ghost of Yotei is set to release on the 2nd of October.
"Set 300 years after the critically acclaimed Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yōtei is a standalone experience set in 1600s rural Japan. The story follows a haunted, lone mercenary named Atsu, thirsty for revenge. She travels through the beautiful, rugged landscapes of northern Japan, hunting those who killed her family many years earlier."
The bar is high for this one, with Ghost of Tsushima being as good as it was, it'll be exciting to see how the new game compares. Stunning visuals, a gripping story, and a finer touch of detail are leaving us excited to experience the beauty of Japan once again.
Phew, that's quite a list! and rest assured, this was the tip of the iceberg - amongst these titles are dozens more, so if nothing took your fancy here, there's bound to be something on its way for you. We've seen more game releases this year at Itemdrop than we have... ever! And with such a varied mix too, we're absolutely spoiled for choice.
