Triggerheart EXELICA (Switch)

Triggerheart EXELICA is a vertical scrolling bullet-hell shooting game that first appeared in Japanese arcades in 2006. Known as the penultimate officially licensed SEGA Dreamcast game, it was later ported to other consoles like the PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360. Now, 18 years after its debut, Triggerheart EXELICA is finally receiving an official physical release in the West!

Far away, in a system so distant that the light from its stars will never reach Earth, a war was nearing its end. Exelica and Crueltear - humanoid weapon systems known as Triggerhearts, developed by C.H.I.L.D.A., an interplanetary defence organisation - were dispatched to battle the autonomous combat unit known as the Ver’mith.

In the heat of battle, just as victory seemed within reach, Exelica and Crueltear were accidentally teleported to Earth via an unstable emergency gate activated by the Ver’mith. Stranded on an unknown planet, the wounded Triggerhearts had no way to determine the war's outcome. Slowly recovering from their injuries, they began to see Earth as a haven - until the Ver’mith reappeared.

The Ver’mith had also been transported to Earth, albeit delayed by the unstable gate. Now, with the Ver’mith establishing Earth as their new base of operations, Exelica and Crueltear must rise again to protect their newfound home.
